Early start on 2019 New Years resolution

Image
I made an early start on one of 2019's New Years resolutions yesterday. I will finally learn to crochet. I can knit and sew, embroider and cross stitch yet never been able to crochet more than a chain. I saw some lovely wool in Poundstretchers this weekend so decided to give it another try. After watching a few You Tube videos and trying out some dingle crochet and half double crochet stitch squares, I decided to take the leap and try and make something to actually wear. I decided on a cowl, firstly because I don't particularly like wearing scarves in the winter and two it was based on a rectangle and didn't require shaping. After a trip to Dunelm Mill for a 10mm crochet hook I made a start. I was amazed how quickly it grew because I was using a large hook and chunky wool, it is made completely of double crochet stitch worked into the back of the loop to give a nice rib effect. As it only had 12 rows on the pattern I was very wary as to if this would be enough but

Just realised how long it has been since I've looked at this blog. It seems strange to look back over the last 8 years and see how far I have come. Ben and I are on the verge of an amazing journey together both in business and personal terms. James has grown into a wonderful young man who now towers above me. I really must push myself to blog every week next year, almost to the end of 2015 and so much has happened. You really don't notice how much changes until you look back on something like this. Well to start Mike and I split up a year after we got married, it was 3 years ago this month. But I'm happy now and life is good. Luke got married to a wonderful girl called Tiffany and they have given me the wonderful gift of a grand- daughter called Skylar  My business is blooming and I have now started doing sci fi conventions with it which keeps my busy lol. Through doing these conventions I have started cosplaying, dressing as characters from films, tv etc. I love making my own costumes and allows my skills that I learnt when I was dancing to be used again  So I will use this blog more next year and share my journey with you once more

Almost fully up to date. January saw us flying back to Florida, to get married at Cocoa Beach. We also had our son with us, who turned 19 during the first week of the holiday and my two sisters. Mike and I were married to each other before, we divorced 15 years ago and lost touch 12 years ago. Luke decided to hunt for his father to get some answers for himself, through the wonder that is Facebook, I found him. After 7 months of talking, we realised that we wanted to get back together and now 2 years down the line we were getting married again. A month away from what would have been our 20th wedding anniversary. We had hired a villa in Davenport and had a car, so were able to travel all over Orlando. It was a fantastic holiday and it is a place were I really feel at home. It was my first visit to Seaworld and it was amazing, the Shamu show was great but what really amazed us was the Dolphin show. We also paid to feed the Dolphins, it was truly magical to be this close to these an

Last June saw me turn 40. I could think of no better place to celebrate this than at Disneyland Paris. Our friends came with us, as it was their daughters 4th birthday a week later. This is a pic of James and I at our favourite restaraunt in DLP, Inventions. Captain Hook visited us during our dinner at Cafe Mickey, he was 1 of 10 characters we saw that night. My birthday tshirt that I made, I also made 3 tshirts each for both James and Emily.  I also made us all tote bags to carry our disney autograph books in- a Disney Star Wars one for Sharon, a birthday girl one for Emily, a Phineas and Ferb bag for James and the tiara mickey ears for me.
